Orange-red grit is a limestone from the Verona region in northern Italy. It is particularly valued for its striking, warm colouring and fine marble-like texture.
Haematite has a uniform to slightly fluctuating red colour, which can vary from lighter to darker shades, often with fine white or beige veins. These veins are caused by mineral inclusions during the formation of the stone.
As it is a limestone, the stone is relatively soft compared to harder rocks such as granite or basalt, but is easy to work with and is nevertheless very strong and durable. The stone is often used for flooring, wall cladding, stairs and artwork.
The warm, reddish-brown colour makes limestone particularly attractive for classic and traditional designs, but it also finds its place in modern interiors.
