However, cement tiles can also be used to lay carpets - as here for a kitchen island - in single-colour tiles and the transition from plain to pattern is broken up.

A classic that uses diagonals to make rooms appear larger and connect them with each other. As two different colours always meet at the edge of this pattern, the joint becomes invisible - it is the surface, the pattern and not the individual panel that is effective.
